The largest car show in the Coachella Valley was held yesterday, February 8th, at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. People came from all around to celebrate their love of cars and to raise money for the Desert Cancer Foundation. Cars rolled in at 6:30 am, filling the campground with rows of cars ranging from late model domestics and imports, drag cars, a NASCAR, customs, hot rods, lowriders, exotics, and movie cars from Ferrari vs. Ford.
The highlight of the event was children who competed in the pedal car race. This is the second year of the pedal car event. The racers were three and four-year-olds from local YMCAs, who pedaled and steered their custom made cars to the finish line. The cars were provided by sponsors who painted and decorated the cars with their logos and liveries. The kids are dressed in their own race suits and their pushers, who help them get up to speed, wore their own “Pedal Pit Crew” uniforms. The pedal cars bring a bit of Goodwood to California.
For another year, the Dr. George Charity Car Show has showcased the diverse community of auto enthusiasts.
